Rich has been licensed since 1999 and has been actively taking part in contests for the past two years. His operating was limited due to studying computing for two years but now he is working full time his weekends are free again. During his time of being licensed Rich has been active as:

He is a member of CDXC (Chiltern Dx club), WWYC (World Wide Young Contester's) and his local club the South Dorset Radio Society. Rich operates 50/50% SSB/RTTY with most activity being in contests.

He works full time for the LSC Group, a national company dealing with consultancy and training in integrated logistic support and related safety and risk management, technical authorship, advanced information and data management systems, including electronic documentation.

Rich has operated from six DXCC countries since getting licensed only four years ago, this will be his seventh country and his first DXpedition to Africa.
