Dick was first licensed as GC8DCO while still at school and in 1973 became GC4CHY. From then on he was very active CW dx-ing and contesting on 10/15/20 using a Drake B-Line and 3-ele tribander in a tiny garden.
Dick moved to his current QTH in 1987 but went QRT due to a job change from journalist to becoming MD of a wine company, and with the demands of a young family.
Dick became QRV again in 2002 and now uses vertical antennas, due to planning restrictions, but has a very good three acre site on the west coast of the island about 500 yards from the sea and near the top of a hill.
CW remains his first love but is enjoying SSB more since buying a Heil headset and Yaesu linear.
Dick is former member 1388 of the FOC.
